These are the top questions people ask about the admissions process at West Oaks Hospital.


Q: What type of mental health services do you provide?
A: We offer a wide range of treatment options including inpatient, partial/day patient and intensive outpatient (three hours a day). We work with children, adolescents, adults and seniors. We have a variety of different types of specialized programs custom tailored to meet your unique needs, and are available to answer your calls and questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Yes we do! And we work with most insurance companies including CHIPS, Medicare and Medicaid (up to age 21).

Q: What do I need to bring if I am checking into your Inpatient Treatment program?
A: If you think you’ll be checking into our inpatient program, bring the following with you to your assessment: clothes for three days, no more than $20 cash, list of medications. Please no personal hygiene items. Please leave at home any glass containers, razors or any metal grooming devices.

Q: What is your admission process?
A: We are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and no appointment is necessary. You will be seen by both a QMHP (qualified mental health professional) and a licensed physician prior to admission to the facility. They will work with the inpatient staff to help customize your treatment to your individual needs.

Q: What is the cost of your mental health program?
A: Most insurance companies pay a percentage of your inpatient stay. We will have a business office person available to inform you regarding payer information.

Q: Is there a co-pay or deductible for insurance?
A: Yes. You will be required to pay your insurance co-pay or deductible upon admission into our program. Check with your insurance company to find out what benefits they will cover and what the deductible will be at the time of admission.

Q: Can I work and stay in the treatment program at the same time?
A: In the inpatient setting, we want the patient to be focused completely on their therapy and we also want to ensure both their safety and the safety of their loved ones. In the partial/day programs and the intensive outpatient programs (IOP) it is entirely possible to work and participate in the programming. Every person is different and therefore this decision is always based on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Will you work with my current therapist, social worker, EAP or physician?
A: Yes, we recognize the importance of ongoing continuity of care and therefore ask you provide the admissions staff with a list of anyone currently involved in the care of you or your loved one.

Q: Will I receive individual mental health counseling?
A: Yes, we provide individual counseling along with family therapy, as appropriate, for all our patients.
